Terms & Conditions

1) Acceptance of these terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of FormerCars, including its website, accounts, tools, vehicle pages, VIN-related features, content, and related services collectively referred to as the “Service.”


FormerCars is owned and operated by Unknown Consulting, LLC. References in these Terms to “FormerCars,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refer to Unknown Consulting, LLC and the FormerCars Service.


By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not access or use the Service.

2) What FormerCars does

FormerCars provides tools that help users track, organize, store, and share vehicle information, including VIN-related records, vehicle details, notes, photographs, and other information users choose to submit.


The Service may also provide links to third-party resources, including search engines, vehicle-history reports, recall databases, government resources, and other websites.


Unknown Consulting, LLC does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, availability, or reliability of any vehicle, VIN, ownership, recall, title, registration, history, or other information available through the Service.

3) Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.


By using the Service, you represent that you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.

4) Accounts and security

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • You agree to provide accurate account information and keep it updated.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your account.
  • You must notify us if you believe your account has been accessed or used without authorization.

Unknown Consulting, LLC is not responsible for losses resulting from your failure to secure your account or login credentials.

5) Your content and data

“User Content” includes VINs, vehicle details, vehicle notes, photographs, profile information, and any other information or materials you submit through the Service.


  • You retain ownership of your User Content.
  • You grant Unknown Consulting, LLC a limited, nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, format, display, and transmit your User Content as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, promote, and improve the Service.
  • You are responsible for ensuring that you have the legal right and authority to submit your User Content.
  • You may not submit User Content that is knowingly false, fraudulent, defamatory, unlawful, or misleading.
  • Your User Content must not violate another person’s privacy, intellectual property, contractual, or other legal rights.

You are solely responsible for your User Content and any consequences resulting from submitting or making it publicly available.

6) Public pages and VIN visibility

Vehicles you add may be assigned a public, shareable page and may appear on public make, model, search, discovery, or garage pages, depending on the visibility options available through the Service.


You may make an individual vehicle private and may control whether your garage profile is publicly visible, subject to the settings available through your account.


You understand and agree that:

  • Public information may be viewed, copied, shared, archived, or indexed by search engines.
  • Information previously made public may remain available in search-engine caches, screenshots, archives, or third-party records after you change its visibility.
  • You are responsible for reviewing and managing the visibility of your vehicles and profile.
  • You should make a VIN or other vehicle information public only when you have the legal right to share it.
  • Unknown Consulting, LLC cannot control how third parties use information that you make publicly available.

7) Prohibited uses

You may not:

  • Use the Service for an unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, or abusive purpose.
  • Use the Service in violation of any applicable federal, state, local, or international law.
  • Attempt to access another user’s account, private vehicles, or data without authorization.
  • Impersonate another person or falsely represent your identity, authority, or relationship to a vehicle.
  • Submit stolen, unlawfully obtained, false, or misleading information.
  • Scrape, crawl, harvest, copy, or systematically collect information from the Service at scale without our prior written permission.
  • Use automated systems to create accounts, submit information, or place an unreasonable burden on the Service.
  • Upload malware, viruses, malicious code, or other harmful material.
  • Circumvent or interfere with security, authentication, access-control, or privacy features.
  • Use the Service to stalk, harass, threaten, expose, or dox another person.
  • Use information obtained through the Service to facilitate theft, fraud, identity theft, unauthorized vehicle access, or another unlawful act.
  • Reproduce, resell, commercially exploit, or create a competing database from Service content without written permission.

8) Third-party links and services

The Service may include links to third-party websites, databases, products, reports, advertisements, or services. Unknown Consulting, LLC does not own or control these third parties and is not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, pricing, security, policies, products, services, or practices.


The inclusion of a third-party link does not necessarily constitute an endorsement, partnership, certification, or recommendation.


You are responsible for conducting your own independent due diligence before relying on or purchasing any third-party information, report, product, or service.


Your use of a third-party website or service is at your own risk and is subject to that third party’s separate terms and privacy policies.

9) Service changes, availability, and termination

Unknown Consulting, LLC may modify, add, remove, restrict, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice.


We do not guarantee that the Service or any particular feature will always remain available, operate without interruption, or retain User Content indefinitely.


We may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access if we reasonably believe:


  • You violated these Terms.
  • Your account is being used fraudulently or without authorization.
  • Your use creates a security, technical, legal, or operational risk.
  • Restriction or termination is necessary to protect the Service, its users, or another person.

10) Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS.


TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UNKNOWN CONSULTING, LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.


We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, or error-free.
  • Defects, inaccuracies, or errors will be corrected.
  • Vehicle, VIN, ownership, recall, title, registration, or history information will be accurate, complete, or current.
  • A vehicle displayed through the Service is owned by, available to, or lawfully controlled by a particular person.
  • The Service will help you locate, contact, recover, purchase, sell, or verify a vehicle.

You should independently verify all material vehicle information through appropriate official records, qualified professionals, government agencies, or established vehicle-history providers before relying on it.

11) Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UNKNOWN CONSULTING, LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.


This limitation includes damages arising from or related to:

  • Your access to, use of, or inability to use the Service.
  • Your reliance on vehicle, VIN, ownership, recall, title, registration, history, or other information.
  • Loss, deletion, corruption, alteration, or unauthorized disclosure of data.
  • Interactions, transactions, communications, or disputes with another user or third party.
  • Third-party websites, reports, products, advertisements, or services.
  • Unauthorized access to or use of your account.
  • Lost profits, revenue, business opportunities, goodwill, or data.
  • Service interruptions, security incidents, errors, or omissions.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of Unknown Consulting, LLC for any claim arising from or related to the Service will not exceed the greater of:


  1. The amount you paid directly to Unknown Consulting, LLC for use of the Service during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or
  2. One hundred dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty exclusions or liability limitations. In those jurisdictions, these provisions will apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.

12) Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Unknown Consulting, LLC and its members, managers, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, licensors, and service providers from claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from or related to:


  • Your access to or use of the Service.
  • Your User Content.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your violation of applicable law.
  • Your violation of another person’s privacy, intellectual-property, contractual, or other legal rights.
  • Information you submit or make publicly available through the Service.
  • Fraudulent, misleading, abusive, unlawful, or unauthorized activity conducted through your account.

13) Intellectual property and copyright complaints

Except for User Content and third-party materials, the Service and its original content, branding, design, software, interfaces, databases, organization, and features are owned by or licensed to Unknown Consulting, LLC and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.


You may not reproduce, distribute, sell, license, modify, republish, reverse-engineer, or commercially exploit protected Service content without prior written authorization.


If you believe material available through the Service infringes your copyright or other intellectual-property rights, contact us and provide enough information to identify:


  • The protected work.
  • The allegedly infringing material.
  • The location of the material on the Service.
  • Your contact information.
  • The basis for your complaint.

14) Governing law and venue

These Terms and any dispute arising from or relating to the Service will be governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.


To the extent permitted by applicable law, any legal action arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service must be brought in a state or federal court of competent jurisdiction located in Florida, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

15) Severability and waiver

If any provision of these Terms is determined to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.


Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not waive our right to enforce that provision or another provision in the future.

16) Changes to these terms

Unknown Consulting, LLC may revise these Terms periodically. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.


Your continued use of the Service after revised Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of those revisions.

17) Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional policies or notices presented through the Service, constitute the entire agreement between you and Unknown Consulting, LLC concerning your use of FormerCars.
