Fiat VIN Decoder
Fiat has been building cars in Turin since 1899. It returned to the US in 2011 with the 500, after leaving the American market in the early 1980s.
Built before 1981?
Can I decode a Fiat VIN from before 1981?
Not yet. A Fiat built before 1981 used a shorter, manufacturer-specific number rather than the 17-character standard, and our classic decoder does not cover Fiat so far. Every VIN searched there is recorded, and the makes people look up most are the ones we add next.

Reading a Fiat VIN
What do the first three characters of a Fiat VIN mean?
Italian-built Fiats begin ZFA. The US-market Fiat 500 was assembled in Toluca, Mexico, and carries a 3C3 prefix instead, so a Fiat VIN starting with 3 is not an error.
