Hudson VIN Decoder
Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit built the Hornet, Wasp, Jet, Commodore, Super and Pacemaker. It merged with Nash in 1954 and the Hudson name ended after the 1957 models.
Can I decode a Hudson VIN from before 1981?
Yes. Hudson VINs from before 1981 are shorter than 17 characters and follow Hudson’s own layout, so a standard decoder cannot read them. Our classic decoder reads them from as early as 1946, character by character, against the factory chart for each year.
Decode a classic HudsonHow do Hudson VINs work?
Hudsons from 1946 to 1954 have a short serial: a model and year prefix, then one running number shared by every model. A 1946 car starts 3, then the model digit, and the 1951 to 1954 cars use the model digit and a year letter, such as 7A for a 1951 Hornet. The 1955 to 1957 Nash-built Hudsons are not covered yet.
