Nash VIN Decoder

Nash Motors of Kenosha, Wisconsin built the 600, Statesman and Ambassador, the small Rambler from 1950, and the Nash-Healey sports car. It joined Hudson in 1954 to form American Motors, and the Nash name ended after the 1957 models.

Built before 1981?

Can I decode a Nash VIN from before 1981?

Yes. Nash VINs from before 1981 are shorter than 17 characters and follow Nash’s own layout, so a standard decoder cannot read them. Our classic decoder reads them from as early as 1946, character by character, against the factory chart for each year.

How do Nash VINs work?

Nash cars never carried a 17-character VIN. A serial is one letter and a running number, such as K-340001. K was the 600 and then the Statesman, R the Ambassador (V in 1957), D the Rambler and N the Nash-Healey. The letter does not say the year, so the year is worked out from where the number falls in that series.
