Metropolitan VIN Decoder
The Metropolitan was a small two-seat car designed by Nash and built by Austin in Longbridge, England. It was sold as a Nash or Hudson Metropolitan until September 1957 and then simply as the Metropolitan, until 1961.
Can I decode a Metropolitan VIN from before 1981?
Yes. Metropolitan VINs from before 1981 are shorter than 17 characters and follow Metropolitan’s own layout, so a standard decoder cannot read them. Our classic decoder reads them from as early as 1953, character by character, against the factory chart for each year.
Decode a classic MetropolitanHow do Metropolitan VINs work?
Every Metropolitan serial is the letter E and a number, from E1001 in October 1953 to E95981 in April 1961. The number gives the build year, and the title can be a year later because the cars needed weeks to reach North America.
